Hello, I’m Antonio Roldán, a registered health psychologist (AO12853) with the Official College of Psychologists of Eastern Andalusia. My studies and professional career have led me to specialise in trauma through EMDR therapy and Third Generation Therapies, addictions, neurodivergences (ASD, ADHD, giftedness), Eating Disorders (ED), and counselling for non-monogamous relationships.

After devoting several years of my life to scientific research in the field of psychology, where I focused on the study of mental health in people with chronic illnesses and delivered programmes to improve psychological care in hospitals, I decided to dedicate myself entirely to clinical practice. I completed my Master’s in General Health Psychology at the University of Málaga, where I also worked in the psychological support service, providing therapy to members of the university community, including students and lecturers — my first steps in clinical psychology.

In addition to these experiences, my professional work has centred on adult populations, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, emotional difficulties, grief, trauma, self-harm, and addictions.

About me

From an early age, I always knew I wanted to dedicate myself to a profession that would help make the world a better place, and psychology offered me the opportunity to draw close to people’s inner lives and do so in a very personal and deeply human way. I have also always been driven by a strong curiosity to understand why others behave the way they do — and why I do too — which is why psychology drew me in in a very particular way from practically childhood.

I studied psychology at the University of Jaén and spent a year studying in Cardiff, United Kingdom, where I practised and refined my English, and also began gaining experience conducting sessions as an English-speaking psychologist. It was also my first encounter with the cultural differences that shape therapy depending on the population we work with. I learned that when therapy is adapted to the individual — their personal needs and cultural particularities — it works better.

At present, I combine my work at Integria Psicología with work at a residential centre for people in addiction recovery, a role that has allowed me to learn enormously about the difficulties and traumas that affect many of the people most stigmatised by society, and how many of the problems that impact mental health are often an escape from far deeper pain they are unable to manage on their own.

How do I work at Integria Psicología?

In my work as a psychologist at Integria Psicología, I believe the therapeutic process is a collaborative one in which fostering attentive listening and a genuine human relationship allows me to adapt to the personal needs and values of each person I work with.

I also advocate a non-pathologising approach, viewing the process of working alongside the patient not merely as a search for solutions to problems, but as a journey of personal growth that brings us closer to our values and to the people we want to become.

Equally, I pay particular attention to learning about the different contexts and needs of social minorities. Being able to listen to and understand the world through the eyes and the individual, unique particularities of people who are so often marginalised by society is essential to offer therapy that is both ethical and inclusive.
