Pride: We Don’t Have to Fit In to Exist or to Love
Many LGBTQ+ people learned to hide, not always through explicit rejection, but through silence, expectations, and subtle messages. Those survival strategies still accompany us even when we’re safe. In therapy, we work to understand what we had to protect, what fears persist without reason, and how to build new ways of loving—not from survival, but from desire. Pride is an invitation to look tenderly at the person we were, and to allow ourselves to exist without having to prove anything.
